Checking GST Registration Status Without Logging in

With GST filing being an integral part of any business, it becomes mandatory to register under GST. In this section, we shall learn about checking the GST registration status without logging in to the official GST website. Let’s see the steps:

Step 1: On GST Portal, go to ‘Track Application Services’ under ‘Services’.


Step 2: After clicking Track Application Status, you will arrive on this page. Select Registration from the dropdown.


Step 3: You will get an option to enter either ARN or SRN.


Step 4: Enter the ARN or the SRN you have received on your registered e-mail id. At this stage, you must also input Captcha code and click Search.

The ARN may provide you with one of these status messages:

  • Pending for Processing: This message appears for an application that has been submitted successfully and is awaiting the tax officer's review.

  • Site Verification Assigned: This appears on registration applications that have been marked for a site visit.

  • Site Verification Completed: You shall get this message when the supervisor has submitted the Verification Report to the tax officer.

  • Pending for Clarification: This message is presented when the tax officer requests clarification from the applicant. 

  • Clarification filed– Pending for Order: This appears once the clarification has been filed by the applicant and the tax officer is yet to give out their decision.

  • Clarification not filed – Pending for order: This status appears when an applicant fails to file a clarification within a specified period of time and the order is pending.

  • Approve: When a new registration application is accepted by a Tax Officer, the tax officer emails the new registration applicant their Registration ID and password.

  • Rejected: A registration application that has been denied by a tax officer is known as being rejected.

Checking GST Registration Status After Logging in

Having witnessed the method to check the status without logging in, you can also check it after logging in to the GST portal. You may use your ARN or submission period to log in to the portal.

Step 1: After visiting the official GST website, click Services and then select ‘Track Application Status’.

Step 2: Select the ‘Registration’ option from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Next, you may use ARN or SRN or submission date to examine the status.

Step 4: Once you receive the information, click ‘download’ to get the acknowledgment.

Latest Information Regarding GST Registration

29th August 2021

A taxpayer can revoke a canceled GST registration up to 30th September 2021 if the last date for cancellation falls between 1st March 2020 and 31st August 2021. The cancellation is effective if the GST registration is revoked in accordance with Section 29(2) clauses (b) and (c) of the CGST Act via CGST notification number 34/2021 dated 29th August 2021.

28th May 2021

The deadline to file for revocation of cancellation of registration between 15th April 2021 and 29th June 2021 is 30th June 2021.

1st May 2021

The deadline for taking action, replying or passing orders under Rule 9 of the CGST Rules, 2017 which falls between 1st May 2021 and 31st May 2021 has been extended to 15th June 2021.

5th March 2021

Taxpayers can now search for ARNs for registration, post-TRN login.

31st January 2021

  1. Individuals applying for registration in the GST REG-01 as an SEZ unit and SEZ developer will now be required to include the validity period as per the Letter of Approval (LOA)/Letter of Permission (LOP).

  2. Registrants will now be able to upload a copy of the Notification issued by the MEA/State when applying for registration on the GST Portal in Form GST REG-13.

  3. The portal now offers Aadhaar authentication for one promoter and one primary authorized signatory.

31st December 2020

  1. For Taxpayers who want to apply for new registration and opt for Aadhaar Authentication, the authentication will be done only for one Primary Authorized Signatory and one Promoter/Partner, rather than all of them.

  2. Registered GST Practitioners can now apply for cancellation of their registration using Form GST PCT-06

  3. The taxpayer will now be shown additional information in a table when they apply for a registration application.

  4. GSTIN cancellations are immediately reflected on the GST Portal as "Suspended" as soon as the cancellations are initiated.

  5. Taxpayers can choose the jurisdiction of CBIC and the states/UTs based on their PIN code.
