  6. If the employer does not meet the requirements of sub-rules (1), (2), or (3), the chief inspector-deputy facilitator will cause repairs and unpaid land costs to the employer

The employer must ensure Protective clothing for people indulging in limewashing or painting. He must maintain the following items in protected clothing:

  • water-resistant footwear
  • covering for the legs
  • aprons and gloves work for people who are in contact with the chemical solutions, including preparation for such a solution
  • protective gloves, foot-wear, and aprons for workers employed in processes involving the handling of hides or skins, and in processes specified in clauses (a) and (b)
  • Gloves for people indulging in limewashing and painting, or workers dealing with sodium sulfide or other corrosive chemicals
  • Gloves are to be provided to those who work manually or work with the risk of contact

Inclusions of Form 7 - record of lime washing, painting, etc. in the Tamil Nadu Factories Rules, 1950

  • All interior walls, ceilings, corridors, and staircases of the facility as specified under the Tamil Nadu Factories Rules, 1950 Act must be painted or limewashed at least once a year, painted once every three years from the last air cleaning period or in some cases painted
  • All interior steel works must be painted or limewashed once every three years from the paint or varnish period. The interior walls of the kitchen are cleaned once every four months
  • A record must be kept in the appropriate register (Form 7 - record of lime washing, painting, etc.) of the date on which the limewashing, color washing, painting, or varnishing took place

Maintaining Records under Form 7 - record of lime washing, painting, etc.

The employer must maintain all records of limewashing and painting as described in subsection (1) of section 11.

Record of limewashing and whitening - Record the dates for bleaching, limewashing, color washing, painting, etc. They are recorded in the records kept on Form 7 - record of lime washing, painting, etc.

Under clause (d) of the Act, Form 7 - record of lime washing, painting shall be maintained for:

  • Factory or areas of the establishment specified in part A - workrooms in which the amount of cubic space allowed for every person employed in the room is less than 14.2 cubic meters with a record in Form 7 - record of lime washing, painting
  • Factory or areas of the establishment specified in part B - workrooms in which the amount of cubic space allowed for every person employed in the room is less than 70.8 cubic meters with a record in Form 7 - record of lime washing, painting
  • To engine rooms, installation rooms, canteens, washrooms, creches, shelters, cloakrooms, and the laundry with a record of the same maintained in Form 7 - record of lime washing, painting

If the chief inspector declares that any part of the installation referred to in sub-rule (1) does not apply to any provision of clause (d) in question or applies as a different rule (1) is not maintained clean, written notice may require an employer to whiten, limewash, wash, paint, or varnish that specific area. If the cleaning proceeds, it should be noted under the Form 7 - record of lime washing, painting

Furthermore, if the employer does not respond to this request within two months of the notification date, the sub-rule (1) applies to this part of the factory unless the chief inspector makes a special decision.

Limewash for toilets and urinals is mandatory. The walls, ceilings, or partitions of each toilet and urinal must be whitewashed, limewashed, or color-washed, at least once every four months and should be recorded in Form 7 - record of lime washing, painting.

Exemptions under sub-section (2) of section 11

  • Cleaning of walls and ceilings
  • Section 11 (1) (d) of the Act does not apply to the facility or any part of the class or description of the facility as outlined in the table attached to this Law. But only if there is proper cleaning, brushing, dusting, vacuuming, or other effective means. They should be kept clean by other effective agents

(B) A record must be kept in the appropriate register (Form 7) of the date on which the washing, color washing, painting, or varnishing took place.
